Stromsmoe Hereford & Angus is a family operated ranch located 1 1/2 miles south of Etzikom, Alberta. This herd originated when our grandfather homesteaded near Etzikom in 1909. As far as we know, no commercial females have ever been bought since. Our father Jerome came back to the farm after the war and in 1946 began expanding and improving the herd by selecting good quality Hereford bulls and putting the best heifers back in tho the herd year after year.
We feel our herd offers you a chance to incorporate into your herd some of the very best maternal genetics you can find anywhere. We have bred our entire herd A.I. to the very best bulls in North America for 49 consecutive years, and think our cattle will compete with any. We have had many people ask us when we are going to stop. Breeding A.I. means never being outbid on a bull we want or settling for second choice.

We have scale-weighed every newborn calf (both registered and commercial) for the past 40 years. Our neighbours probably thought we were crazy driving our tractor all over the pasture with the bucket up. We have used a tape, but only to compare. Every weight we write down is a scale-weight. We have found the tape to be 6 to 12 lbs light, and birth weight is too important to our customers (and our industry) not to be completely accurate.
